Founded in 2012, the Economic Rights Institute supports alliances to actualize development that respects the rights of all. We design methods & tools to strengthen multi-tiered discussions: between employees & management, NGOs & the business community, buyers & suppliers. We put the insights & momentum of these discussions in the pursuit of solutions to foster the conditions for better work.
The Chinese government rules out the possibility employment conditions contribute to suicide. And by June of 2010, Foxconn contended that monetized “condolences” incentivized suicide. But we write this piece provoked by five [and counting!] sources wherein employees of Jinchuan [“金川集團”], one of the world’s biggest suppliers of nickel and cobalt to new energy technologies, suggest that when workers die in OHS incidents, they sometimes lie to authorities to tell them employees died by suicide.
